Good Morning Eveyone,
As I began to study this morning many scriptures started coming to my mind, and in most cases it was how people changed after having an Encounter with God. My question to you this morning is, “Is Change Evident is Your Life”?
Lets start with the scriptures and we can examine our lives and see if we have changed and what areas of our lives may still need that touch from the Masters Hand.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (New King James Version)
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Here the word tells us that there is a CHANGE when we come to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior. You become a new creation, OLD things are Gone!! So many of us try to hold on to the OLD things! ALL things have become new. I believe this happens at salvation as you become a child of the Living God, but I also believe that we have to continually renew our mind to this verse, as Satan will continue to bring up your past and condemn you for things done in the past. You have the authority to tell Satan, thats Gone, it has been washed by the blood!
Lets take a look at the story of Saul on the Road to Damascus and see if change was evident in his life after an encounter with the Lord…….
The Damascus Road: Saul Converted
1 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.[a] It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7 And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. 8 Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. 9 And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
Ananias Baptizes Saul
17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus,[b] who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.
19 So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.
Saul Preaches Christ
20 Immediately he preached the Christ[c] in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.
As you can see here there was an immediate change in Sauls life and God changed his name to Paul.
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free,[a] and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
Here Paul is telling us to STAND FAST in the Liberty by which Christ made us free. We are free from our old way of living, he warns us in the next part, DO NOT be ENTANGED again with a yoke of bondage….
Love Fulfills the Law
7 You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? 8 This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.
13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
Walking in the Spirit
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
We need to continually examine our lives, our actions and our words and make sure we are Walking in the Spirit and not fulfilling the lust of the flesh. In the world we live in the lust of the flesh has been acceptable in the worlds eyes. You can see these evident almost everywhere you look. The question today is: Have you allowed any of these things to creep in and have a strong hold in your life? God has set you free and you have the power and authority to be Led by the Spirit instead of Living in the works of the flesh.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[c] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[d] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Living Before God Our Father
13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”[c]
